Montclair State University: Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges

Just down the road from my home is a gem - Montclair State University. Their slogan, “It’s all here,” simply could not be more accurate. On top of their top notch academic offerings, there is a wonderful baseball stadium where the local minor league baseball team plays and Fourth of July firework celebrations are held. My son’s elementary school is just a block away from the campus and he is there very frequently to attend concerts, visit their art museum, use their physical fitness facilities - and it’s a two way street. Their students and professors are always at his school sharing their knowledge and keeping the kids excited about higher education.

Imagine my joy when the Cali School of Music approached me about working with them! About a month back, the students produced a fully staged production of Maurice Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges and it was wonderful! The orchestra was magnificent; the costumes were vibrant and imaginative; the lighting dramatic and an aid to the storytelling; the vocalists were superb!

I’m thrilled to say that I have a couple of additional projects in the works with them and I cannot wait to see more of what these students are up to - more on that soon! For now, here are a few photos from the production:
